Moderation Policy
How WizNova™ reviews reports, takes action, and handles appeals
Effective date: 26 September 2026
1.Moderation Principles
WizNova™ moderates the JEE Forum to keep it safe, accurate, and useful for every aspirant. Our moderation is guided by three principles:
- Proportionality: The action taken matches the severity of the violation.
- Consistency: Similar violations are treated similarly, regardless of who the user is.
- Accountability: Every moderation action is logged and can be reviewed.
WizNova acts as an intermediary under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the IT Rules, 2021. We are not the originator of user content and moderate in good faith in accordance with applicable law.
2.The Moderation Pipeline
Every content concern follows this four-stage pipeline:
Report
A user clicks the Report button on a post or comment and selects a reason. Reports are queued for review.
Review
A moderator reviews the reported content against our Community Guidelines and applicable law. The review is conducted within 24–72 hours for standard reports and within 24 hours for urgent reports (child safety, credible threats).
Action
The moderator takes one of the actions described below, based on the nature and severity of the violation.
Record
The action, the reason, and the moderator's notes are logged in our moderation database. This record is retained for 3 years for accountability and legal compliance.
3.Possible Moderation Actions
The following actions are available to moderators, in order of increasing severity:
No Action
The reported content does not violate our Guidelines. The report is closed with a note. The reporter is not notified of the specific reason.
Warning
The content is borderline or the user appears to have made an honest mistake. The content may remain, and the user receives a warning notice. Warnings are recorded and considered in future moderation decisions.
Content Edit / Hide
The content is hidden from public view but not permanently deleted. This is used for content that may be recoverable (e.g., a post that contains both useful information and a policy violation).
Content Deletion
The content is permanently removed. Used for clear violations of our Community Guidelines or applicable law.
Thread Lock
A discussion thread is locked to prevent further comments. Used when a thread has become unproductive, abusive, or is spreading misinformation.
Temporary Suspension (1–30 days)
The user's account is suspended for a defined period. Used for repeated or serious violations. The user cannot post, comment, or vote during the suspension.
Permanent Ban
The user's account is permanently banned from the Forum. Used for the most serious violations, including CSAM, credible threats of violence, repeated serious violations after prior suspensions, or operating multiple accounts to evade bans.
Law Enforcement Referral
For content involving child sexual abuse material (CSAM), credible threats of violence, or other serious criminal content, we will report the matter to the relevant law enforcement authority and preserve relevant data as required by law.
4.Proactive Moderation
In addition to acting on reports, WizNova may proactively moderate content that:
- Is flagged by automated systems for review
- Comes to our attention through other means
- Relates to a serious or ongoing safety concern
Proactive moderation does not require a user report. WizNova may act on any content that violates our Community Guidelines or applicable law, at any time.
5.Appeals Process
If you believe a moderation action taken against your content or account was incorrect, you may appeal by:
- Emailing [email protected] within 14 days of the action
- Including your registered email address, the URL of the affected content (if applicable), and a clear explanation of why you believe the action was incorrect
We will review your appeal and respond within 14 days. Appeals are reviewed by a person who was not involved in the original moderation decision.
Appeal decisions are final. If you believe your legal rights have been violated, you may seek recourse through the Grievance mechanism described in our Grievance Policy, or through the appropriate legal authority.
6.Transparency
WizNova is committed to transparency in its moderation practices. We will publish periodic moderation reports summarising the volume and types of content actions taken, to the extent permitted by law and operational constraints.
We will not disclose the identity of users who submit reports, except as required by law.
